The Alumni Association was founded in the year 2000, as a non- profit organization by the alumni Crescent Engineering College (the present B.S. Abdur Rahman University). The objective of Association is to serve alumni, alma mater and society. Since its inception, the association has carried out several activities towards the objective, the highlights are listed below.

Activities of Alumni Association
Activities of Alumni Association
- Alumni Scholarships Scheme for economically & academically deserving Students. This scholarship amount of Rs. 5,000/- is given to 6 to 8 students regularly every semester.
- Guest Lectures are regularly being organized and delivered by Alumni in National Seminars organized by the College / University such as “Security in Wireless Sensor Networks”, “Applications of FEA in Multi Utility Vehicle” and “Pilot Training” etc to name a few.
- Donation of Alumni Book Case to Main Library (With books on Technical, General knowledge, GRE, GMAT, TOEFL and other competitive exams).
- Faculty Appreciation Awards for honoring faculty members (honored 16 Teaching, 33 Non- Teaching faculty members during 2nd Decennial celebrations).
- Participation in NSS Activities by donating stationary and educational aids such as to the Govt. High School, Kumizhi.
- Participation in Independence Day celebrations and distributed stationery and other educational aids to the Govt. Primary school, Otteri (Vandalur).
- Alumni association members periodically visit and sponsor the lunch school for mentally challenged children at Bavishya Deepam.
- Donation of general knowledge books to poor school children at Urrapakkam through “Puthiyathore” association.
- Organized a three-day Communication Skills Workshop for the supporting staff members in association with English Department & NSS and a one-day course on Guidance for Higher Education in Engineering for the benefit of government school students doing HSC (+2).
- Childrens’ day Celebrations: Inter-school competition was organized by Alumni Association for Government Higher Secondary Schools.
- Graduates’ Day mementoes: Distribution of mementoes to graduating students (just passing out Alumni) on every year since inception.
- Alumni News Letter: Published Alumni news letter to keep the alumni posted of the activities of college and Association.
- Annual General Body (AGM) meeting: Every year around 3rd week of Dec. AGM is organized to discuss the list of activities and financial expenditure for the past year and plan for ensuing year activities at high level.
- Executive Committee (EC) meeting: From the inception EC meet is conducted at regular intervals to plan and execute the alumni association activities.
- Alumni Website: An exclusive web site (www.crescentalumni.org) for the alumni association has been developed to provide a platform for improved interaction among alumni and create better networking. It is designed to hold the data base of entire alumni. Some of the prominent features include updating profile, searching the alumni based on various criteria such as year of passed out, specialization, country etc.,
- Alumni Block: It is proposed to construct an Alumni Block inside the campus to serve the University and the Alumni by acting a Guest House for the visiting Professors and Alumni. An Alumni Office is planned in the block. The proposal includes a G+4 Block (five floors) with a Plinth Area of about 2000 sq. ft. The site has been identified beside the Registrar’s Quarters.
